Lac qui Parle Jail Releases
The Lac qui Parle County Sheriff’s Office operates the county jail. A person may leave it for the community after bond, a court order, time served, or a sentence involving probation. Departure can also mean transfer to another county, commitment to Minnesota DOC, movement into federal or immigration custody, medical or treatment placement, work release or monitoring, or another controlled destination.
The facility’s current roster cannot distinguish those outcomes after the entry drops. Minnesota VINE does distinguish facility-reported general release, court-order release, and bond release from transfer, escape, death, record purge, and unsupervised custody. The sheriff’s maintained booking and release data is the local source for the physical event. A court record explains legal authority but does not replace that movement record.
| Path from the jail | Record to check next |
|---|---|
| Community release | Sheriff release record, Minnesota VINE, and matching court case |
| Another county | Sheriff destination field and receiving county roster or records office |
| Minnesota state prison | Minnesota DOC Locator after the commitment is entered |
| Federal custody | Federal court or USMS route, then BOP if committed to federal prison |
| Immigration custody | ICE ODLS when its current or recent-release scope applies |
Note: A transfer ends this jail’s custody without proving that the person entered the community or completed every sentence obligation.
Confirm Lac qui Parle Jail Release
Begin with the official timestamped In Custody list. If the exact person is present, preserve the MNI, booking number, intake date, charges, bail or bond data, and court notes. These fields identify the episode. If the entry is absent, do not call the person released until a second record supplies the event.
- Match the person on the current list by more than a name. Save the page timestamp and booking identifiers.
- Search Minnesota VINE for the matching person and Lac qui Parle facility. Read release and transfer events separately.
- Call the Sheriff’s Office and ask whether public booking or release data is available for that booking.
- Request the actual release date, time, reason, and destination as maintained when exact details matter.
- Check MCRO for the court order or disposition. Follow Minnesota DOC, BOP, ICE, or another county when the record names a receiving system.

Lac qui Parle Jail Records
No dedicated county release-record request form was located. Contact the Sheriff’s Office with a focused request for existing public data. Give the full name, birth date if known, MNI, booking number, and approximate booking dates. Ask separately for the booking record, recorded release date and time, release disposition or reason, destination agency if public, and booking photograph.

Minnesota’s Data Practices Act does not require the county to create a custom summary or certify a conclusion. Ask for maintained fields. No county-specific turnaround promise or release-record retention period was found. The 2026 Lac qui Parle County fee schedule lists general copy and photograph charges, but requesters should confirm the format, classification, and price before ordering. General charges include $1 per fax or email page, $0.25 per black-and-white page, and $0.75 per color page.
The official Sheriff’s Office page shows the current public contact block.
The Government Center contact should be used in place of stale directories that still identify the predecessor jail address.
Current Lac qui Parle Jail Roster
The public page is titled “In Custody” and shows a date-and-time stamp. Observed fields include Photo, MNI, Name, Sex, Age, Booking number, Intake Date, Charges, and Bail/Bond. Charge blocks can contain the offense level, status such as sentenced or court pending, statute number, description, bail details, receipt fields, and a future court note.
The roster has no released tab, name-search box, archive, release date, release reason, or rolling 24-hour or 72-hour view. Its booking photo is useful while an entry remains active. After removal, the page normally no longer supplies that image. Roster bail received or bond received fields can signal movement toward release, but the receipt is not the end of jail processing.
The county custody display documents the fields available before release.
The image supports using the roster as an identifier source, not as an archive of people who already left the jail.
Note: The roster timestamp shows when the page was produced, but the county publishes no guaranteed refresh schedule.
Lac qui Parle Jail Capacity
Minnesota DOC’s 2026 inspection classifies the facility as a county “Jail.” It lists 14 approved secure coed beds and an 80-percent operating-capacity calculation of 11.20. The operating authority in that inspection runs from July 1 through December 31, 2026. Those figures describe approved operation, not a count of releases or a live population.
The inspection confirms that the replacement facility opened January 5, 2026. There is no Minnesota state prison, federal correctional institution, or dedicated ICE detention center established inside the county by the official sources reviewed. State, federal, and immigration systems are possible destinations outside the county, not additional local jail pages.
Lac qui Parle Jail History
Lac qui Parle County’s documented jail history begins with a jail built in 1891 for $6,600. It was demolished in April 1964. Construction on its replacement began July 31, 1964 and ended February 28, 1965. County history assigns $98,466 to the jail portion and $15,221 to the attached residence. After a standards issue in 1983, that residence became administrative space and the county added secure visitation, booking, recreation, and library areas.
The 2025 state inspection described the later predecessor jail as aging, dark, limited, and antiquated. The 2026 inspection confirms the new Government Center jail opened at 911 8th Avenue and doubled approved secure-bed capacity from seven to fourteen. This facility-specific transition explains why older pages and directories may point to 600 Sixth Street.
Historical addresses should not guide a release-record visit without a phone call. The court remains at 600 Sixth Street, while Sheriff’s Office and jail contact is at the Government Center. The two sites answer different questions: the court maintains the legal case, and the sheriff maintains county custody data.
Note: The predecessor jail address remains relevant to county history and the district court, but not as the current sheriff contact location.
Request Lac qui Parle Jail Photos
The current roster shows a thumbnail booking photo and links to a larger image while the person remains listed. After the entry drops, the official local fallback is a sheriff request. Minnesota Statutes section 13.82, subdivision 26 defines a booking photograph and makes it public, subject to temporary withholding when access would adversely affect an active investigation.
Identify the photo by full name, MNI, booking number, and intake date. The 2026 county schedule lists $5 for a photograph printed by the county and $25 for photographs saved to CD. Confirm that the image is available, the requested format can be supplied, and the listed charge applies before sending payment.
A DOC photograph is different. If someone was committed to a Minnesota prison, the DOC Locator can display front and side correctional images while the person remains within its public jurisdictional scope. Those images should not be described as the Lac qui Parle County booking photograph.
Lac qui Parle Release Record Limits
Release from this jail ends only this facility’s custody. A court order can authorize release before staff finish identification, property, detainer, and paperwork checks. A docket may show a sentence or dismissal without the exit minute. In the other direction, a person can vanish from the jail roster because another agency assumed custody, even though no unrestricted community release occurred.
Use the sheriff record for local movement, MCRO for the legal case, Minnesota VINE for a participating-jail event, and the receiving agency for what happened next. The Lac qui Parle County District Court remains at 600 Sixth Street and handles the county’s criminal and traffic cases. Its public case record may show a dismissal, sentence, stayed execution, probation term, jail credit, warrant action, or discharge. The docket explains the legal case but does not state the actual jail door-exit minute.
Minnesota DOC’s Locator is appropriate only after a state commitment and while DOC jurisdiction continues. BOP and ICE have federal scopes and cannot confirm a county jail release on their own. A federal pretrial person may also remain within the U.S. Marshals Service process without appearing as a sentenced BOP inmate.
Sealed, expunged, juvenile, investigative, medical, security-sensitive, or otherwise protected records may not appear publicly. No online result should be turned into a claim about a person’s custody history. A precise booking identifier and a request to the originating office provide the most reliable route.
Note: Ask each agency for its own maintained record instead of asking one office to interpret another custody system’s data.
