Lac qui Parle Released Inmates
A release is a physical departure from one custody setting. A discharge is often the later end of a sentence or supervision. For Lac qui Parle County released inmates, those events can occur months or years apart. Someone may leave the county jail on bond, after time served, on a court order, or to begin probation. Another person may leave that jail only because staff transferred the person to a state prison, another county, federal custody, immigration custody, medical care, or another controlled setting.
The official Lac qui Parle County In Custody list reports present confinement. When an entry disappears, the roster no longer supplies the answer. The Sheriff’s Office holds the local booking and release data. Minnesota VINE can report a participating jail’s event. The district court may show the order that made release lawful. Minnesota DOC, BOP, or ICE records apply only when that separate custody system is involved.
- Release
- Departure from a particular jail, prison, or detention setting.
- Discharge
- The legal end of a sentence or supervision, which may occur after physical release.
- Transfer
- Movement from one agency’s custody to another, not a community release.
- Time served
- A disposition stating that the required custodial time has been satisfied.
Lac qui Parle Release Types
The release label determines which record should be checked next. Bond data on the live roster can show that money or a bond was received, yet it cannot prove that identification, detainer checks, property return, paperwork, and physical exit are complete. Court action also does not supply a door-exit time. The sheriff’s release entry is the local movement record, while the court case explains the legal basis.
| Release or movement | Meaning | Best next record |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or bail | The court allowed release on stated conditions and jail processing was completed. | Sheriff release data and the court case |
| Court order | A judge supplied authority after a hearing, dismissal, sentence, or other ruling. | MCRO order plus sheriff release data |
| Time served | The custodial part was calculated as satisfied. | Sentence order and jail or DOC calculation |
| Probation | The person left jail under court-ordered community supervision. | MCRO and 6W Community Corrections |
| Supervised release | A state prisoner left prison but remains under DOC jurisdiction. | Minnesota DOC Locator and caseworker |
| Transfer or hold | The person left the county jail for another custody system. | Receiving county, DOC, BOP, ICE, or court record |
VINE treats general release, release on court order, and release on bond as release events. It separately classifies transfer, escape, death, record purge, and unsupervised custody such as work release or electronic monitoring. Those distinctions keep roster absence from being misread as unconditional freedom.
Lac qui Parle Release Record Fields
The county publishes no released-person archive or fixed release-record schema. A focused request should ask for existing data tied to one booking. The current roster supplies strong identifiers before an entry drops, including MNI, booking number, intake date, charges, court notes, and bail or bond details. Saving those identifiers helps the Sheriff’s Office distinguish people with similar names and find the correct episode.
| Requested field | What it can show |
|---|---|
| Booking date and time | When the local custody episode began. |
| Release date and time | When the sheriff recorded the person leaving county custody. |
| Disposition or reason | The release or movement label maintained by the agency. |
| Destination agency | Whether another agency received the person, if that data is public. |
| MNI and booking number | The identifiers that connect the live entry to the later request. |
| Charges and court reference | The case link used to confirm the legal disposition. |
| Booking photograph | The image associated with that booking, subject to lawful limits. |
| Discharge document | An existing property receipt or other closing record, if maintained and public. |
No request should assume every field exists or is public. Minnesota agencies need not create a new summary or certify that a person is “free.” Ask for the maintained data in its existing form, then reconcile any transfer or supervision entry with the agency named in the response.
Note: Save the MNI and booking number before the current roster entry disappears, since those identifiers sharply narrow a later record request.
Request Lac qui Parle Release Records
No dedicated sheriff release-record form was located. Requests go through the Lac qui Parle County Sheriff’s Office. The clearest request identifies one booking and lists each desired item separately. This lets the county provide a public part even if another part has a different classification.
- Give the full name and date of birth, if known. Add the MNI, booking number, and approximate booking dates.
- Ask for the existing booking record and recorded release date and time.
- Request the disposition or reason, destination agency if public, and booking photograph as separate items.
- Ask for the available format and cost before ordering copies. No local completion-time promise was found.
- Compare the response with Minnesota VINE, MCRO, or the receiving agency when the disposition shows a transfer or supervision.
Government Center, 911 8th Avenue, Suite 1
Madison, MN 56256
320-598-3720
Office: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; dispatch available at all times
The county publishes no retention period for release bookings and no online released-roster window. Request older data with a date range and keep the booking identifiers. An absent online result cannot establish that the record was destroyed, sealed, or never existed.
Lac qui Parle Release Record Laws
Minnesota Statutes section 13.03 supplies the general right to inspect public government data unless another law classifies it differently. It does not require an agency to create data or answer a question instead of producing a record. Section 13.82 governs law-enforcement data and makes a defined booking photograph public, subject to temporary withholding when release would harm an active investigation.
Corrections data can also be limited under section 13.85. Minnesota criminal-history data under section 13.87 provides a longer state path for specified conviction, disposition, sentence, controlling-agency, and confinement information. It is not a substitute for the sheriff’s release timestamp. Expungement under chapter 609A seals covered records and restricts access; it does not destroy them. The effect depends on the case and order.
Note: Sealing changes public access, but a missing search result alone cannot establish that a Lac qui Parle record was sealed.
Bail Receipt Is Not Release
The Lac qui Parle roster can display bail amount, whether conditions apply, bail received, and bond received while a booking remains active. Those are useful clues. They show what the jail system recorded about the financial step, not whether staff completed discharge. A warrant, detainer, another case, identity check, or unfinished processing can still affect movement.
The timestamped In Custody page illustrates those active-booking fields and their context.
The image shows why booking number, MNI, court notes, and bond data should be saved before the current entry disappears. Sheriff release data remains necessary after that point.
Release Fees After Lac qui Parle Custody
The 2026 Lac qui Parle County fee schedule lists release-adjacent charges. It states a $25 booking fee for a Lac qui Parle prisoner, a $30 daily prisoner per diem or pay-to-stay charge, a $30 daily in-county Huber charge, a $100 daily out-of-county Huber charge, and full cost for listed medical or prescription expenses.
Those amounts may remain administratively relevant after custody. The schedule does not state that they delay release, and it does not describe collection timing. General county copy charges are $1 per fax or email page, $0.25 per black-and-white page, and $0.75 per color page. Sheriff-schedule photographs printed by the county cost $5 each, while photographs saved to CD cost $25. Confirm the format and current charge before placing an order.
Search Lac qui Parle Released Inmates
A name should follow the custody path that ended. The official county roster is the first checkpoint only when the person was recently held locally. Its timestamp and identifiers help define the booking, but absence needs corroboration. The Lac qui Parle County 24-hour release process gives the same-day fallback because the sheriff publishes no recent-release feed.
- Check the current roster and save its timestamp, MNI, booking number, intake date, and court reference if the person is listed.
- Search Minnesota VINE for the same person and jail. Read release, transfer, purge, death, and custody events as different outcomes.
- Call the Sheriff’s Office and request the booking and release fields when the exact time, reason, destination, or photo is needed.
- Open the matching Lac qui Parle court case in MCRO to learn the legal disposition or find the order.
- If the record shows state commitment, search Minnesota DOC. For federal prison or immigration custody, use BOP or ICE instead.
Minnesota DOC Release Search
The Minnesota DOC Public Viewer covers people committed to the Commissioner of Corrections who remain under DOC jurisdiction. That includes people in prison and people released from prison who are still supervised. It does not cover an ordinary county bond release or serve as a complete archive after final DOC discharge.
| Search or result field | How to use it |
|---|---|
| First and last name | Prefix-based search that can account for DOC name history and aliases. |
| MNDOC Offender ID | Enter the complete six-digit ID for the narrowest match. |
| Current Status | Read first when deciding whether prison custody has ended. |
| Anticipated Release Date | A forward-looking calculation, not an actual exit timestamp. |
| Expiration Date | May mark the end of DOC jurisdiction rather than prison departure. |
| Caseworker and court files | Connect active supervision and the sentencing case. |
The official Minnesota DOC Locator screen shows the statewide search route used after a state-prison commitment.
The locator’s scope explains why a fully discharged person may not appear. For an older or absent result, use the DOC offender-record request route and the court case rather than treating “not found” as a recent release.
Note: The DOC Anticipated Release Date predicts prison movement; Current Status and a release record are needed to confirm that it occurred.
Lac qui Parle Recent Release Gaps
The Sheriff’s Office publishes no official rolling 24-hour or 72-hour release list found in the required source sweep. The only county page is titled “In Custody.” It has no released tab, archive, date-window selector, or name-search control. The page is timestamped, but no refresh interval is promised. There is also no published online retention period because no released view exists.
For a same-day question, roster disappearance is a trigger to check VINE and call the sheriff. For a weekend or three-day lookback, request existing release data for a clear start and end date. Include the booking number or MNI when possible. No official sheriff mobile app or recurring Facebook release series was verified, so neither an app nor social silence should be used as proof.
Lac qui Parle Release Court Records
The record trail is split between two Madison locations. Sheriff and jail contact moved to the Government Center at 911 8th Avenue, while Lac qui Parle County District Court remains at 600 Sixth Street. The sheriff documents physical movement from the jail. The court documents the order, sentence, dismissal, probation term, or other legal event that may have authorized it.
The Lac qui Parle County District Court page identifies the local court and its access point.
MCRO can show a Register of Actions, sentence, dismissal, warrant activity, and public orders. It is not a real-time jail movement log. A judge may act before staff finish release processing, while a jail record may show the actual exit without explaining the full legal reasoning.
Verify Lac qui Parle Release Supervision
Leaving custody can begin supervision rather than end a sentence. Lac qui Parle County has a local layer through 6W Community Corrections, a four-county joint-powers agency established in 1977. It handles applicable court-ordered or DOC probation and supervised-release work for Chippewa, Lac qui Parle, Swift, and Yellow Medicine Counties.
The 6W Community Corrections page provides the local office route.
6W is not a public person-name lookup. For a released state prisoner still under DOC jurisdiction, use Current Status, Expiration Date, and caseworker details in the DOC Locator. The assigned person should follow the court, DOC, and agent instructions. Broader distinctions and verification steps appear in the Lac qui Parle County probation and parole record.
Lac qui Parle Release Notification Paths
Minnesota separates notification systems by custody. Minnesota VINE covers participating county jail and detention custody. It can report general release, court-order release, bond release, transfer, escape, death, record purge, and unsupervised custody as distinct events. Minnesota Haven is the separate path for people sentenced to Minnesota DOC, including prison release and later supervision changes.
Federal systems have their own limits. The BOP Inmate Locator can show a release date and “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” for federal prison records from 1982 onward. That status does not rule out another agency’s custody or later supervision. ICE ODLS covers current detainees and, under ICE’s official guidance, people released from ICE custody within the last 60 days. USMS has no comparable public release locator for federal pretrial custody.
Neither BOP nor ICE verifies a release from the Lac qui Parle County Jail. Use them only after a county record, court file, or other reliable source points to that federal destination.
Note: Departure from one federal locator’s custody does not rule out supervision, another agency’s hold, or a later transfer.
Getting Home After Lac qui Parle Release
Prairie Five Rides is the documented on-demand transit option serving Madison, Dawson, and Lac qui Parle County. The city publishes weekday service from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a last pickup at 4:45 p.m., a $2 one-way fare, and advance, first-come arrangements through 877-757-4337.
The Prairie Five Rides source shows the local service described for Madison-area travel.
It is not a jail shuttle, and the published schedule does not cover nights or weekends. Families should coordinate directly with the provider and sheriff rather than assume that a ride will be available at the time processing ends.
Lac qui Parle Jail Address Change
Local jail history spans an 1891 jail, a 1965 replacement, 1983 changes, and the current Government Center facility. Minnesota DOC’s 2025 inspection described the predecessor as aging and antiquated. The official 2026 inspection confirms that the replacement opened January 5, 2026 at 911 8th Avenue, Suite 1 and increased approved secure coed beds from seven to fourteen.
This is practical release information. Older directories may still show the former jail at 600 Sixth Street, which remains the district-court address. Call the Sheriff’s Office before visiting for a record, property question, or release logistics. A stale address can send a requester to the court when the needed booking record is at the Government Center.
Lac qui Parle Release System Comparison
Each system proves a different boundary. Matching the record to the custody avoids the two most common errors: treating a current roster as a released-person archive, and treating departure from one agency as freedom from all custody.
| System | Who it covers | What it establishes |
|---|---|---|
| County In Custody list | People presently listed in the local jail | Presence in current county custody; absence alone proves nothing |
| Sheriff release record | A local booking | County release or transfer data as maintained |
| Minnesota VINE | Participating jail and detention records | A facility-reported event, with release and transfer kept separate |
| Minnesota DOC Locator | People still under DOC jurisdiction | Prison or community-supervision status and anticipated dates |
| MCRO | Public Minnesota court cases | Legal disposition and orders, not the physical exit time |
| BOP or ICE locator | Federal prison or qualifying immigration custody | Departure from that federal system within its published scope |
Can a missing result confirm release? No. Misspellings, aliases, feed timing, transfer, purge, final discharge, sealing, and scope limits can all produce an empty search. Use at least one record from the originating or receiving agency.
Lac qui Parle Release Facility
The Facility Map identifies one local detention facility: the Lac qui Parle County Jail, operated by the Sheriff’s Office. It holds county custody at the new Government Center. People may leave for the community, another county, Minnesota DOC, federal or immigration custody, medical or treatment placement, work release or monitoring, or another documented destination.
No state prison, federal correctional institution, or dedicated ICE detention facility was located inside Lac qui Parle County. Those systems remain possible destinations outside the county. Confirm the county movement first, then move to the receiving system named in the release record.
Note: The Facility Map lists only the local county jail; state and federal institutions appear as outside destinations, not county facilities.
